week 85 Elder Cuevas

So Elder Soriano is officially dead (He went home on Wednesday) and so now I'm with Elder Soriano, from Mexicali, he's rather new in the mission but he's super cool and super hardworking. We've been killin' it. We get along SUPER WELL.

So I really don't have many stories... Or at least I don't remember much from this week. But this was kind of  a funny moment: Elder Cuevas and I were contacting in a part of our area called the Fraternidad and we started talking to a 50-year-old woman who happened to be a member. She was very bad mannered and rude with us and was laying on the sidewalk with her head resting on the wall, in what must have been the most uncomfortable position possible. Her name was Leti. We started speaking with her inviting her to church when she started to rant telling us to preach to someone who needed the gospel, and that we were wasting our time in talking to a woman who was already baptized and that she goes ''Everyday to the hospital and to the poor and the needy to share the word,'' That ''Every morning I read the Book of Mormon and the Bible, I swallow what I need to swallow and I share the word with those in need.'' And starting talking to us about how she was inactive because she had no friends in the ward because no one loved her and that she loved everyone and felt like an outcast, with all of the sudden a woman in her 30's passes by and waves at us and starts speaking gibberish in the voice of Minnie Mouse. So to our left we have the Bitter Wicked Witch of the West and on the right we have a crazy Minnie Mouse who is just yelling bleblelblbelblelelbelelblelelble, while wildly waving her arms. After about 30 seconds, Leti, the angry lady, yells ''SHUT UP YOU CRAZY." At Minnie Mouse. Minnie Mouse unphased continues and Leti starts insulting Minnie Mouse. I had to hide my face from laughing so hard. I asked a member later and it turns out that Leti is just a super bitter lady and the saddest thing is that Minnie Mouse became deaf when she was like 6 and they never took her to learn sign langauge and so she just can't communicate with anybody and it's just sad, and it made me feel bad for laughing.

Also on Saturday we were walking through a part called the Modesto to get to a part of our area called the Santa Margarita. It's honestly like a 5 minute walk but somehow I managed to get stopped by every (borracho) drunk in the street. Each one of them saying EXACTLY THE SAME THING. At the entrance we were stopped by a drunk in shirtless and in Jean shorts. He stops me to tell me he's a member and that he wants to go back to church. He says all of this IN ENGLISH. He asked for me to teach him English and to help him with his Alcoholism. He repeats this 5-6 times before he finally lets go of my hand. Then half way through the exact same thing, and at the very end I was stopped by a group of drunks and I just pulled out my Word of Wisdom Pamphlets and told them to go to church the next day. The craziest thing is that the drunks in the street of Honduras, know more English than the average Honduran.

ALSO. We were teaching a lesson to an older man we found contacting and got mad at me for saying that Jesus was the son of God, and that Jesus was the papa of God. I had no idea how to answer and realized he was nuts so we just cut the lesson short. At the end we offered service, like usual. But we usually specify in like cleaning or in helping carry heavy stuff so people don't just ask for money. But as soon as I offer to help carry heavy stuff, he says "well now that you're in the disposition to help. My walls are falling in on my house if you could fix that." And my companion just says laughing, "the walls are a little too heavy.'' and the old guy said OH. Look at this. and takes off his hat, and shows THIS HUGE SCAR ON THE TOP OF HIS HEAD. And told us that 30 years ago he was working as a security hard, when all of the sudden he got really sleepy and laid down. When he woke up 10 minutes later he found a machete wound in his head. IT WAS HONESTLY HUGE. He looked worse than Phineas Gage.

Anyway. That's just some weird stuff that went down this week.

We have 3 baptisms planned for April. And life is good.

week 84: He That Can Have Patience Can Have What He Will

This week was aight. My companion, Elder Soriano, goes home this week on Wednesday, and so he`s just been getting ready to go home since yesterday. Our baptismal dates for Saturday fell through on Thursday. Which was my companion`s last opportunity to baptize in the mission. As soon as we left their house, telling us they didn`t want to be baptized, I literally saw my companions spirit leave his body, he stopped caring about everything. Today for Pday he didn`t even bring mission clothes.

I`ve actually made some pretty bad jokes this week, that I probably shouldn`t share, but they`re too good to keep to myself. So on Saturday we were with some members, sharing a lesson and eating dinner and on the TV in the next room was Spiderman 2 (Toby Macguire). The entire time we ate dinner and shared with them, my companion was fixated on Spiderman 2. I noticed and obviously the family noticed, but we didn`t say anything to him. At the end of the visit (more of less 30-35 minutes.) The family asks my companion how much time he has left, with a big smile he says, ¨I have 5 days left, until I can relax, and watch TV...¨ and I cut him off saying ¨how is that different from what you do here?¨ AND I LOST IT, AND THE FAMILY LOST IT.

Then on Sunday morning we were on our way to church when the sole of my companions shoe gave up the ghost and started flopping open with every step. I look at my companions shoes and then at him and I say, ¨Wow Elder Soriano, even your shoes open the mouth more than you do.¨ AÑSDFJAÑSDLFMASDÑLMASDÑ L O L.

But besides being dead, he`s all right. A little too touchy, but we`re buds. He was able to teach me the area in 3 weeks, and we have some prog. inv. So all is well when the work goes well.

Went to the mountains outside Teguz for Pday.

week 83 Elder Yagual

So I really don´t have a whole lot to comment, my companion has a nasty ingrown toenail and so today we are going to go to the clinic to take care of that.
Funny story, or moment. SO right now next to me there has been a drunk dude watching videos of a chick named Lucia Mendez. He has been watching videos here supposedly for an hour. His time just ran out and he started crying and starting singing her songs. He is still singing. He started shouting when his computer froze to tell him he had 5 minutes and so I had to reach over and tell him he had 5 minutes and so he sat still watching super intently and now that it´s over he refuses to get up. He is just staring at the blank screen.
So on Thursday we went on Divisions with the Elders from my old area, the Reparto, but they came to my area, the 21 of October. I went on divisions with Elder Yagual, who has 2 weeks, in the mission. He is from Ecuador, is 26, and is a recent convert of less than 2 years. It was honestly so cool to go out and work with him, there are very few people in this world who would serve in those conditions. I was impressed he is a great guy.
I don´t have pictures and I don´t have a lot of time due to the whole ingrown toenail ish. The good news is that I might be having two baptisms this Saturday. Pray for it to work out!
Love,

week 82 Girasoles

This was my first week in my new area with my new companion. The area is pretty cool and the ward is actually great. It was kind of rough at first because the house was pretty much the most disgusting thing I`ve ever seen in my life, (which really is saying something, because I have been here A LONG time.) But with bleach, soap, water and more bleach there`s nothing that can`t be done.

When I got here we didn`t have any investigators but on Thursday we put 2 baptismal dates that I`m 80% sure will get baptized IF they put their part.

My ward is honestly super cool and my area isn`t that bad.

We HAD hot water for the first couple of days. UNTIL one day the water was coming out kind of week, so Handy Manny, my companion, decided to try to open it up and fixing it. Resulting in our shower head blowing up after we switched the breakers back on. SO cold showers will have to do for now.

It was a HUGE bummer to leave the Kennedy. And some members even CRIED when I left which killed. But that`s kind of how the mission goes. It`s a bummer but at least I`m where the Lord needs me to be.

Love you guys, here are some pics. There`s a lot so just wait.

Last pics. Whew. So I didn`t write very much this week, but I sent a lot of pictures, and a picture says a thousand words, so I guess you can all consider me having written a book this week.

Lots of love :-)

week 81: 21 de Octubre

So three of you have written me, so I guess I´ll just write the big email first and then hope you all respond. Today is a stinker. I have changes, and I really really really don´t want to leave yet. I only have two changes here in my area, but oh well. I was thinking this week that I would write about my investigators to you guys so you could get a fill in on my real life, but I won´t even be visiting them anymore, haha. I´ll do it anyway.

Ruth and Alex (18 and 14) They are a brother sister that just moved to our area to study. They moved in with their cousins, the Nuñez family who are members in our ward. They have baptismal dates (that I won´t be attending.) Attendance: 2

Larry and Alexandra (17 and 40?) They are from Northern Honduras, Alexandra is studying in the U and Larry is in High School. Sometimes we teach the rest of the family (3 other siblings) But usually just those two receive us. Attendance: 1

Esther (27) She is studying in the University. She promised a friend from Germany she would try going to church for a whole year to see if she could find meaning in life blah blah blah. Attendance: 4

Maria Estefany (20) She is studying in the University, she is from Danli and goes back every other weekend to visit. Baptismal date for the 18th, won´t be there, Attendance: 2

Amy (21) She had a baptismal date, isn´t that positive. Her parents are inactive members, but her dad came once while I have been here. Attendance: 0

There are some others like Marcela and Cesia (don´t know how to spell her name), but just aren´t that positive. So yeah. It´s been going well here. I have changes to an area called the 21 de Octubre. It´s actually part of my old district when I was in the Reparto but when I was the DL there, it was the area of the AP´s and well haha now it´s not, but I actually already know it. I´m not too excited to go, and to be honest I´m not too happy about my new companions either (Trio) but oh well. ¨A donde me mandes iré.¨

Love you guys.

week 80: Skirt Off!

It's been a really busy and fast week. I have no idea what to talk about.

I almost got hit by a car in the street on Saturday going to eat lunch.

I also had to carry a nasty toilet a couple blocks to do service for a member. Service is aight but that toilet was NASTY.

I can't remember if I mentioned this but I have hot water. If I've mentioned it before I´m sorry, but it's just the greatest blessing of my recent life.

The sister missionaries in my group are going home next week, which is super weird.

We have two really positive new investigators. WELL One really positive and the other more or less, they're siblings. They just moved here to the Kennedy to live with a family of members. In this house there are a TON of members and ex missionaries. SO THINGS ARE LOOKING PRETTY GUD.

I´m still teaching English in my apartment complex in the entrance of the building. It goes pretty well and well, I know for sure that I don´t ever want to be a teacher.

Love you guys :-)

week 79 Valentine's Day

So this week has been pretty great. Can´t remember if I mentioned Maria last week but she is our new investigator with a baptismal date for March. She is super cool, and positive. This week only she and Esther showed up to church.

I was almost afraid that I was drugged the other day as one of the ladies in our apartment complex gave me a scones and a super weird drink that tasted super weird and thick. (it was like egg nog or like the mix to make flan) but it wasn´t good and she´s kinda creepy, but I never felt weird and afterward she didn´t want to tell me what the drink was so whatever, probably just not going to ever trust her and drinks again, but the scones were killer.

This happened because she attends my english class I give btw everyday.

Also played Bankopoly today which is Monopoly but with a couple of changes and with locations from guatemala. ´Twas fun.

I really don´t know what to write sorry, this week flew by cause we were so busy. We had interviews this Wednesday which went super well. But anyway. Love you guys gotta go.

PJ Party Pic in my super big PJs.
